Beta Theta Pi has a long tradition of excellence in academics. Over a decade ago, it was Beta Theta Pi that became the first fraternity ever to set a standard minimum grade point average in order to be eligible for membership. Today, the Epsilon Theta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi requires a minimum 2.7 GPA to be initiated as a new member. We feel that having a higher GPA requirement than other fraternities helps us to uphold a stronger brotherhood, and maintain a focus in academics.
Since 1949, the Beta Theta Pi Foundation has offered scholarships to undergraduate and graduate student members of the Fraternity who excel in academics, chapter leadership and campus/community involvement. In 2003, 55 scholarships totaling more than $40,000 were awarded to young people across North America. Their achievements and leadership range from officer roles within the chapter, student government and Interfraternity Council, to honorary societies such as Order of Omega, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and Golden Key. Recipients are often active in varsity athletics, university-wide organizations and philanthropy. Many are Eagle Scouts, community volunteers, youth coaches and tutors.
As a chapter of Beta Theta Pi , we constantly strive to encourage individual and chapter support of the academic mission and provide opportunities for co-curricular learning and personal growth.
